Our Story

Loose Leaf Herbs was created in the summer of 2025 by John Thiebes. The vision was to take a simple idea, that people deserve to have access to local, fresh, flavorful herbs with every meal, and turn it into a reality.

The pilot greenhouse began construction, tucked away in its own corner of Grass Valley Farms, in the heat of August and slowly progressed, utilizing a blend of automated environmental controls and innovative greenhouse growing pracitices.

With a background in organic field production, we knew it was essential to grow herbs that grew in healthy, biologically active soil. After extensive trial and error, Loose Leaf developed its own specialty blend of potting soil, utilizing a blend of microbial innocculants, peat moss and biochar from the Flathead and a specialized blend of organic fertilizers, minerals, and trace elements that allow the plants to thrive in their pots.
